Sandee S. Nebel, MS LMHC, LPC, CEDS, E-RYT-200 Sandee has been practicing yoga on and off the mat since 1972. As a high school student, she attended classes with her mother, who taught hatha yoga and continued to practice yoga well into her years. Sandee’s first teaching experience came when her mother was recovering her range of motion following a mastectomy, and Sandee took over her classes while on summer break from college.
Taking private meditation lessons with Joni Giconi in 2011 inspired Sandee to take the hatha yoga training with Yoga Teacher Training of Central Florida. Sandee’s goal was to deepen her practice physically and spiritually, and she found that the ancient philosophy of Patanjali’s sutras could be applied to modern life and her own interpersonal relationships, along with being a powerful adjunct to her professional work as a therapist in treatment of eating disorders.
She is passionate about sharing the benefits that yoga, guided imagery, and meditation have on nurturing a healthy body image. She often incorporates yoga-based psychotherapy (philosophy, asanas, pranayama and meditation) into sessions with individuals and groups as cornerstones in their therapeutic treatment.
Sandee is a licensed mental health counselor, licensed professional counselor (NJ) and qualified supervisor of registered mental health counselor interns; a certified eating disorder specialist (CEDS) and approved supervisor (iaedp); and founder of White Picket Fence Counseling Center. She is a program consultant to residential and outpatient centers in the treatment of binge and emotional eating, anorexia and bulimia; and created the Better Body Esteem™ program to improve self-esteem and body image for people with food addiction and eating disorders.
She and her staff specialize in treating binge and emotional eating, food addiction, eating disorders, and body image issues. Sandee is a respected trainer of therapists, yoga teachers, and addiction professionals, sharing her expertise and skill in working with clients who may struggle with these issues.
She is a former practicum instructor for graduate students at Nova Southeastern University, frequent guest lecturer in the local community, and presenter at professional conferences.
